The chair of torture came into use in the mid Europe especially in Nuremberg and Regensburg where it was utilized until 1846. This torture was often prolonged for many hours. The victim was made to sit down naked and at the least movement pins penetrated his body. The executioner very often moved the chair to increase the torments.
